Concept: Analyzing Your Story's DNA
It all starts with the concept, the big idea ... but is it a good one? Will it survive the weight of an entire novel? Have you started a story only to find something’s missing? Do you have a nagging feeling that it’s not big enough, bold enough… good enough? In this workshop you will learn what it takes to develop a solid story concept (similar to a logline) that will serve as the vision for the entire novel—whether you’re just getting started, midway through, or entering the revision phase. We will then study and analyze core story types (apart from genre) and break down the essential elements to help you use your preferred storytelling style to transform that concept into a viable novel.
