How To Give a Killer Keynote
Once you’ve had a little success publishing your books, you may be asked to give a keynote address. Keynote addresses are a great way to market your books, meet your readers, and inspire other writers. Unfortunately, not every writer is a born public speaker. Combing his experience in the theater as well as years of public speaking, William Kenower will help participants understand both the structure of a typical keynote, as well as some helpful tips for how to speak effectively to a room full of strangers – strategies that can be used for bookstore appearances, workshops, and classroom visits.
In this class students will learn:
· The importance of stories in public speaking
· That speakers should aim to entertain first, then inspire, and then instruct.
· How to deal with nerves before speaking.
· How to see your audience as friendly rather than hostile.
· How to tell a joke.
