Finding the Right POV and Tense for Your Character’s Voice

This session will review and discuss the use of verb tense and point of view in novel writing. Present tense and past tense will be explored along with a discussion of the impact their use will have on character, tone, voice and genre. We will also review first person and third person point of view from both a grammatical and narrative perspective, and look at the variations within each of these. Attendees will leave with a good understanding of the importance of choosing the right POV and tense and how each of them work within their narratives and tell their characters’ stories.
