Torment Your Protagonist: How to Keep Tension High

Happy, nice characters make for boring fiction. Writers have a tendency to go easy on the protagonist, because you care about them so much. Yet page turning tension relies upon life getting hard for your character, and then harder and harder still. In this workshop we’ll look at ways to make life as difficult as possible through inner flaws, betrayals, losses, danger, as well as through the stakes of the plot, for a page turning story.
